I was so excited for this engagement session! I adore Lakyn, and her and Koby's story. They are the cutest and sweetest couple, and it shows just by looking at them. I am blessed, just for being able to get to know them and their story. It is an honor to be their photographer, and to have the privilege of telling their story.
How crazy is it that Lakyn and Koby live in Texas, but are from the same small town as me!? When I found that out I said to myself, "God thing!" We even have mutual dear friends that we share. So I was incredibly excited when Lakyn emailed me and booked us to take her engagement pictures, and to be her wedding photographer. Even though Texas is there home now, I think that Valley Center Kansas and Wichita will always be home to them. They are having their wedding at a beautiful Points Venue in Augusta, Kansas, and they needed some engagement pictures done when they came home to visit. We only had about a week from when we first started chatting before they came back home for a weekend. I wanted these pictures to be perfect for them, and to start to tell their sweet story. I wanted to make her so very happy, and to fall in love all over again. I bugged her everyday and asked her about a million questions in such a short time frame, but that girl didn't even care! She has the sweetest heart, and it was so much fun for me. We started our session in Wichita at the Keeper of the Plains down town, and her AMAZING mom even brought their pup named Bear, who I can say is the best dog! He is a complete natural in front of the camera, and I say they should take him to LA for a Pedigree commercial audition. Lakyn and Kobe love going to the lake together so I thought we could finish up at the gorgeous venue Brightwater Bay, in South Wichita. We were all freezing and had to keep throwing on our coats as we walked. I'm sure they were ready to get back to warmer weather and no 80 mile per hour winds. I love Lakyn's style too, and her fashion in clothes, and her ring, oh her ring! It is so unique, and pretty! One of my favorite rings I've ever seen.
Now then let me tell you something about this proposal. Gentlemen that are reading this, you might have to step up your game! Koby, just wow! You did GOOD! As Lakyn was telling me their proposal story I was had tears in my eyes. Lakyn and Koby have been living in Texas for a while, so a girl is going to miss her family, especially her mom and dad! So being the sweet man Koby is, he surprised his girl with having her mom head down to Texas. They planned to go this really neat abandoned construction site in the middle of Austin, Texas, called graffiti park. It is always packed with artists spray painting, or other people that want to spray on the walls. She said they have been a couple times and she was really not feeling up to it because of HOW hot it was. Which I can contest to that, I was in Texas last October and I don't know that I have ever experienced heat quite like that! However she wasn't getting out of that one. She sure tried, but there was no luck with that, and you will find out why soon. It was on a Saturday, so of course it was packed full and filled with tourists and artists. They found a little spot and started painting and doodling. After a while Lakyn told Koby, and her mama, that they should climb to the top so they can see the skyline because it is so pretty. When they got to the top Lakyn noticed a tarp hanging on the wall, and even said to Koby, "look someone is working on something over there." She walked on to get some shade over by some trees, but Koby pulled her to the other side by the tarp. There was a small bush next to the tarp, and right then, Lakyn's dad jumped out! This is where the tears started streaming my face. Now she has her mom and dad and not planned, but surprised, so of course Lakyn is crying with excitement and joy to see her dad, AND Koby's mom too! She told me she was completely speechless, and at that moment Koby pulled down the tarp, and there it was for everyone in Texas to see, Lakyn will you marry me? On one knee with family and a crowd watching, he asked the question, will you marry me. Of course she said YES! She sent me some pictures they took that day, and I have to share them with y'all! Seriously can not wait until next year for the wedding. The proposal sounds absolutely magical and their wedding will be too. I am counting down the weeks until March of 2020, with their lavender and grey themed wedding with a touch of gold . I will be dreaming of lavender flowers and gold touches for a year! Until then check out their gallery of the engagement session and stay tuned for their wedding next year!
